Fall to Winter

November 1, 2018

All the outside vegetables, flowers and herb beds are being cleaned, mulched and prepared for winter. Here at Cooper Ridge Farm, we have a lot of work going on. Feels like we are racing Mother Nature!

The hay has been baled and stored in the barn for the goats to feed on this winter. The hay they waste will then be moved to the chicken coop for nesting and dry scratching material all winter.

The greenhouse is up and the beds are planted with winter crops. I'm hoping for fresh salad all winter, along with some other experiments!

Black walnuts are picked up and are laying in the driveway to be hulled. They will be dried and stored in the garage for fresh cracked nuts all year. They make healthy snacks and are also great in the backed goods and candies.

We heat entirely with wood so the porch has been filled and the rest is being cut up and split as the weather permits!

And...of course, I am making goat milk soaps and lotions to keep the store stocked!

I have updated and changed the look of my website so be sure to visit it and let me know what you think! I will be starting a Facebook contest giveaway shortly so be sure to check it out.

Thanks for visiting!!
